Koi and other species of fish are unfortunately susceptible to parasitic infestation and from time to time all Koi keepers will experience on parasite or another invading their Koi.

The first stage of treating a parasitic problem is the correct identification of the parasite which means getting the microscope out. Don’t worry its not as daunting as it sounds and once you have performed a fish scrape a few times it will become second nature.

If your new to the hobby of Koi keeping or a little unsure we will gladly help. Check out our premium membership area “The utopian” for help and advice on performing a fish scrape.

One you have the hand of using a microscope to perform parasite identification we strongly recommend adopting a good house keeping regime where regular fish scrapes are performed to identify parasitic issues as early as possible even if you are sure the fish are clean and health.
