  • Kusuri Potassium Permanganate

    £9.95£15.95

Kusuri Potassium Permanganate is another popular powdered chemical for various applications. A good disinfectant for ponds and nets. Excellent for the eradication of Trichodina & Costia, and other parasites. It will discolour water for up to 7 days, and can be used down to 10°C (50°F).

At higher temperatures Potassium Permanganate removes oxygen from pond water, it is advisable to keep an air stone running and add more air if possible.

Kusuri Hydrogen Peroxide 6% can be used to increase the oxygen levels in pond water and also remove the discolouration from the pond water after a course of Kusuri Potassium Permanganate has oxidised from pink to brown.

Kusuri recommend NOT using Potassium Permanganate with salt.

Please ensure that you read, understand and follow, all Health and Safety guidelines on the packet.

Please do not eat, drink or smoke whilst handling chemicals.

Wear disposable vinyl or latex gloves and appropriate eye protection.

Dosage: 6.8gms per 1000 gallons (4546 Litres) of pond water.

Do NOT overdose. Over dosing can cause fish fatalities

Do not use below 10°C (50°F).

Switch off UV steriliser until course of treatment is complete. Ensure pouch remains sealed after each use. Measure the correct dose and place in a bucket of hot water. Aerate for 20 minutes then disperse solution evenly around the pond over a one hour period. Do not use below 10°C. Potassium Permanganate will turn the water purple. Re-dose as required to achieve a minimum total of 15 hours of purple coloured water. When pond water is above 18°C, add more oxygen to the pond as Potassium Permanganate strips oxygen from the water. If you have gill flukes, treat with Fluke-M or Fluke-P first to prevent fish losses, followed by a treatment of Potassium Permanganate for Trichodina or Coastia. At the end of a course of treatment use Kusuri Hydrogen Peroxide to reoxygenate and help clear the water. In warmer water, if you see the fish struggling during a dose of Potassium Permanganate, Kusuri recommend using Kusuri Hydrogen Peroxide to reoxygenate and assist in neutralising the Potassium Permanganate.

This product is designed as a one off treatment, but may require a second dose after 7 days in heavy infestation.

Alternatively you can use Kusuri Fluke P or Kusuri Fluke S after 7 days.

Dosage: 11.8g per 1000 gallons (4546 Litres) of pond water. For best results use above 15°C.

Kusuri Fluke M stays active in the water for a total of 7 days.

Stir and allow the mixture to cool before adding slowly to the return of the pond over a 1 hour period. It is recommended that you turn off the UV. Fluke M is safe to use with salt.

This product is designed as a one off treatment, but may require a second dose after 7 days in heavy infestation. Alternatively you can use Kusuri Fluke P or Kusuri Fluke S after 7 days.

If the mucus layer is excessive, we advise dosing with Chloramine T at 15g per 1000 gallons, 12 hours before using Fluke M, this will assist in reducing the mucus membrane where body flukes can sometimes get trapped.

Kusuri Fluke M is not an invasive, toxic medication like Malachite Green and Formalin 30%. The Flubendazole is absorbed by the flukes and dissolves their digestive tract that subsequently starves the parasite.

  • Super Tab

    £4.95£595.00

    Air Aqua

SuperTab is oxidant chlorine dioxide (ClO2) in tablet form. This tablet form of chlorine dioxide is a new development and makes the use of the product very easy. Its primary use is to maintain a clean healthy, odour free pond.

SuperTab is recommended as a regular maintenance water treatment which will help to ensure bad bacteria and pathogens are reduced and kept in check.

Chlorine dioxide is very effective in killing pathogens such as fungi, bacteria and viruses.

    • Chlorine dioxide is a very selective oxidant and reacts mainly with organic substances.
    • Anaerobic bacteria cannot become resistant to chlorine dioxide because, unlike UV or antibiotics, the cell wall is destroyed. Because Chlorine dioxide is selective it is much kinder on the good bacteria in your filtration system than other similar water treatments.
    • Chlorine dioxide is very effective at low temperatures and high pH values. Chlorine dioxide does not affect the pH value.

One SuperTab will treat 50,000 to 200,000 litre of pond water. It is advised to dose weekly because the chlorine dioxide will be consumed during the water treatment. At this dose a concentration of 0.01-0.04 mg/l is reached and the the bacterial load is greatly reduced without having a negative effect on the biological filtration.

At higher concentrations (from 0.2 mg/l to 0.5 mg/l) ClO2 is capable of significantly reducing and solving bacterial problems in fish.

Application examples: Koi ponds with fish:

For general preventative treatment it is important not to let the bacterial presence increase and to keep it well-controlled.

A concentration of 0.01-0.04 mg/l is required for maintenance doses in the pond. This means 1 SuperTab per 50.000-100.000 litre water.

As an example if you have a 10,000 litre pond, you can dissolve 1 SuperTab in a 1-litre container and then use a dose of 50-200 ml in order to get a concentration of 0.01-0.04 mg/l.

If the organic load is very high (i.e. when first using the product), the amount of SuperTab dispensed will be consumed rather quickly. In this case, it is advisable to apply a dose every other day, 4 times in succession. Then apply a dose twice per week for 4 weeks.

In addition to the reduction of the bad bacteria and pathogens, organic pond debris will be cleaned from the walls, floor and pipework after regular use. of SuperTab. Your pond will gradually become visibly cleaner.
